With one victory, the Gators substantially boosted their post-season positioning.
By beating Texas A&M on the road last week, Florida claimed its first win against an SEC Western Division opponent since 2009.
On paper, that game was one of the toss-ups. The Gators now are 2-0. Looking at the rest of the schedule, they will be heavy favorites against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Louisiana-Lafayette and Jacksonville State. That will get them to six wins no matter what else happens.
Last year, they needed a November win over Furman to clinch bowl eligibility and would not have qualified otherwise.
Florida looks like it is on track for the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, where it would draw the No. 2 selection from the ACC. That would be an improvement over where the Gators stood at the end of the past two seasons.
